So many books, so little time...

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet: A Novel - Jamie Ford Fantastic!

The Help

The Help - Kathryn Stockett Fantastic read!! Loved every minute of it and hated for the book to end.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini Fantastic read!

The Gargoyle. A Novel

The Gargoyle - Andrew Davidson Weird and intriguing. Not something I would normally read, but loved it anyway!

The Associate

The Associate - John Grisham Typical Grisham. Love his writing. Great story and then you get to the end. Blah!

Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality

Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality - Donald Miller Simple yet very deep. Easy to read and thought provoking. I loved this book! I'm going to have to read it again. It was too much to take in all at once. Highly recommended.

Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska's Political Establishment Upside Down

Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska's Political Establishment Upside Down - Kaylene Johnson All about Sarah Palin. This was written before she was named as the vice presidential nominee. Very interesting as well as inspiring. A really quick read.

The Appeal

The Appeal - John Grisham An interesting take on the legal system and judicial elections. I found the book very interesting and read it in a couple of days. However, my background in law probably has something to do with me liking the book. Without the legal background, I'm not sure if I would have been near as interested. I have read most of Grisham's books and this reminds me more of his early days. I like his writing style. He always manages to hook me within the first couple of paragraphs.

Water for Elephants: A Novel

Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen You gotta read this one! Loved it from cover to cover!

I Am the Messenger

I Am the Messenger - I love Markus Zusak's writing style. I don't really know how to describe this book. Odd, but cool. A page turner. I read the entire book yesterday. I don't want to give too much away but it is the story of a 19 year old who gets these playing cards with names or addresses on them. He has to figure out who they are and what they need and then deliver the message. I'm not making this book sound as good as it is. Some books defy a description. This is one of them. Just read it!

Burning Bright

Burning Bright - Tracy Chevalier I enjoyed this book but it wasn't as good as Girl with the Pearl Earring. Still, I love Tracy Chevalier's style and I love all the information on different times in history. She does a good job weaving the fiction and history together. This book is the story of a chair maker's family and their move from the country to London. Their neighbor is William Blake along with other interesting characters.

The Book Thief

The Book Thief - Markus Zusak A must read!
